kar·ma
( P ) Pronunciation Key (kär
m
)n. - Hinduism & Buddhism. The total effect of a person's actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny.
Was sitting on the bus the other day. it was tuesday morning and the bus was packed like hell. as expected. so as the bus reached a particular stop, a septuagenarian boarded, and i readied myself to give up my seat to her as i was sitting in the third row behind the driver and she had to walk in a little bit more to reach me. and it was at this very moment when two valiant young lads in their late 20s and early 30s stood up simultaneously to offer her their seats. these two fellas were seated in the first row. now that was quite a sight because these 2 obviously never pre-meditated this action and neither do they know one another. they just did what they felt was right. and that was what got to me because in this day and age that chilvary is long buried, you struggle to find semblance of humanity. now was that really what i came to talk about? no not really.
Imagine now if i tell you, God pardon me for my blaspheme, that this world was run by energy. no not electricity or sustainable energy you moron. i'm talking about chi, chakra, spiritual energy, specifically, KARMA.
Newton's Third Law of Motion dictates that 'For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction'. means to say what you do now determines what you get in return in future. what you give in now you will receive. the wheels of fengshui will spin and good begets good, ill begets ill.
just close your eyes and think what would happen if there is no great one above, there is no law, no jurisdiction, no police. just you, and your actions. 'no law and police? how so?!' you might ask. well if everybody knows that they would suffer the consequence of their actions, do you think there might be theft? how would a thief feel if he returned home to find his tv set stolen. what goes through a kidnapper's mind when he returns home to find a ransome note? can a rapist imagine his family member getting raped? and how about a murderer getting murdered. and finally, an arsonist has no home to return to cos its been razed to the ground. hell no. there would be no more crimes. no more hate. no detest, resentment, racism, no more mofos.
similarly, this world would be filled with fun, laughter, peace and joy. if there is a system of karma meritocracy, world leaders would be chosen upon the total tally of the good things they do for mankind. politicians are finally good for a fucking change. and i have no clue who the president of the united states would be as it sure as hell aint gonna be bush. people would rush to offer seats to old folks for karma points that they might exchange for perhaps a free meal. of course that free meal is given by somebody for karma points that can obtain a nice t shirt. and the t shirt vendor does his good deed and recieves an fm radio in return. this cycle will never end. people who do good things become healthier. they get less ailments and diseases. your life span depends on how many chocolate bars you distribute to kids belonging to perfect strangers. and this is the only avenue when even the poor get a chance to contribute. they can offer shoe shine services, be bell hops, etc. a perfectly equal opportunity for the world to progress. let the good times roll.
so the next time you see a pregnant woman board the mrt train, dont hesitate. karma or no karma, you gotta not let yourself down at the very least. and who knows? you might be the next president ; )
